Polar regions & the cryosphere

The cryosphere is defined as “the part of the Earth system that includes solid precipitation, snow, sea ice, lake and river ice, icebergs, glaciers and ice caps, ice sheets and ice shelves, and permafrost and seasonally frozen ground.”*
